From Zero Records To Remote Equipment Diagnosis In Seconds
THE SITUATION
When equipment failed unexpectedly, there was no reliable way to diagnose the cause. Without continuous monitoring, teams had to manually review hours of context-free CCTV footage, delaying diagnosis and extending downtime. Repeat failures were hard to prevent since root cause data didn’t exist in a usable, timestamped form — making preventive maintenance planning nearly impossible.
WHAT OCTOPS DEPLOYED
In March 2025, OCTOps was installed to monitor equipment panel displays continuously using AI-OCR technology. The system reads monitor text and data outputs in real time, detecting abnormal stops the moment they occur. This proved faster and more economical method than a complicated integration with propriety machine software of a capable but older generation production machine. When a stop is detected, the system automatically pulls footage from existing cameras — capturing the minutes before and after the event for analysis. Remote camera access and zoom controls let the operations team or management investigate from anywhere.
THE OUTCOME
Teams can now identify the cause of equipment failures quickly, the relevant footage is automatically captured and available for remote review without requiring anyone to be on-site or to search manually through CCTV archives. Response times have improved, downtime has been reduced, and preventive maintenance planning now has the data it needs to address repeat failure patterns before they reoccur.
